Each Mother’s Day, a school in Brockton is chosen for this project.
Items that mothers would like are purchased by the Guild.
The classes come to the cafeteria where each child chooses five items for their mother or a significant woman in their life.
The Guild volunteers then wrap them with colorful paper and ribbons for the children to give to their mother.
Our 2011 Mother’s Day Project was held at the Manthala George Elementary School on May 4. The students worked on a card with art teacher Peggy Garner at the beginning of their art class. The card was then included with an assortment of gifts, including hand sanitizer, foaming soap, magnetic note pad, and pocketbook size tissues. Our board members then wrapped the items in spring colored gift bags and ribbons.
Students were very excited to be giving these surprise gifts to their mothers on Mother’s Day, and more than one child exclaimed, "This is the best day of the year!"
We wholeheartedly agree.
